Cabaret Comes to Leicester

The Leicestershire & Rutland Lodge of Installed Masters No.7896 held a Cabaret evening at Freemasons’ Hall Leicester, with entertainment from the renowned singer, Sally Jones.

The Master of the Lodge, Richard Jelly, and his wife Chrissie hosted the event, with guests being treated to an excellent meal and drinks provided by the team at Devonshire Place. After the meal, Sally entertained the audience with songs and laughter so well associated with a cabaret performance.

The watching audience even managed to join in, not just with a sing-along, but for two “volunteers”, Tony Sibson & Richard Barnett, who joined Sally on stage as her backing dancers, although their performance was for one song only, as Sally and her accompanying musician Les, continued with the songs until late in the evening.

Afterwards, Richard Jelly said “Thank you so much to Sally for giving us all a fantastic evening, and thank you to each and everyone of you for joining us on this special evening. And lastly, a very big thank you to Ian Nesbitt for his part in organising tonight’s event”.

The Leicestershire & Rutland Lodge of Installed Masters was consecrated on the 29th April 1963, after a meeting of Past Masters of the Lodges within the Province held earlier in the year, under the chairmanship of the Assistant Provincial Grand Master J.E. Foister, to decide on forming a Lodge of Installed Masters. There were 103 founding members representing 57 Lodges within the Province. It meets twice a year on the last weekday, excluding Saturday, in October and the second Friday in April and membership of the Lodge is open to any Brother immediately after his Installation. Every Master and PM will regard such membership as one of the ambitions of his Masonic career. The aims of the Lodge are to study and discuss points of view and difficulty, exchange opinions and experiences, seek advice and give it, refresh minds and make new contacts.
