Keeping it in the Family in Melton Mowbray

December 16th 2019 was a very special day in the Newham household, and for the 120th meeting of the Framland Hundred Lodge No.9453 who meet at the Masonic Hall in Melton Mowbray, where Steve Newham was installed as Master of the Lodge for the forthcoming year, a task undertaken by one of the founding members of the lodge, W.Bro. Philip Mann.

This was a very emotional and proud evening for the newly installed Master, as also present were his son Daniel and his son in law Richard Senior, who are also members of the Lodge

Daniel was invested as a Steward and Richard as Inner Guard, receiving his first office within the lodge.  The new Master of the Lodge, W.Bro. Steve, also took on the responsibilities of Almoner of the lodge.

The Lodge also received as the representative of Provincial Grand Lodge the Provincial Junior Grand Warden, W.Bro. Mark Hancock, who was accompanied by the Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies W.Bro. John Norton.

At the festive board, W.Bro. Steve Newham thanked the Installing Officer, W.Bro. Philip Mann, W.Bro. Martin Smith as his Immediate Past Master, and all of the other Brethren who have assisted in his Masonic journey so far, and also for the help and coaching of the Melton Mowbray Lodge of Instruction.

Lastly and most importantly, he thanked his family for the support they have given him, for it would not have been possible in the short time he has been involved in Freemasonry.

Following an excellent and convivial festive board, W.Bro. Mark Hancock pointed out that the new Masters' house would be the ideal place for Christmas dinner, since Bro. Richard would be the Inner Guard to keep out intruders, Bro. Daniel would be a Steward taking care of your dietary needs, and should anyone over indulge, W.Bro. Steve who is also the Almoner, could look after you.

W.Bro. Steve concluded by wishing all present a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous and valued Masonic New Year!
